QUO VADIS

1916 wreck of French schooner, which foundered 20 or 23 miles south of Lizard Point after being stopped by a U-boat en route from Swansea for Mortagne-sur-Gironde with coal, and scuttling charges placed aboard. She was stopped by UC-17, then under the command of Ralph Wenninger, who was one of the most prolific U-boat commanders of the First World War. He would later be captured in UB-55 in the Dover Barrage (wreck event: 1388885; possible remains, 901772). Constructed of wood in 1901, she was a sailing vessel.
