ECCLESTON SQUARE

DESCRIPTION + /

Private square developed by Thomas Cubitt in 1835 with many of the houses constructed during the 1830s and 1840s. During the second World War the garden was used as vegetable plots. In 1989 the garden was under threat to redevelopment as an underground car park, as a result the Society for the Protection of London Squares was formed. The garden is now privately owned and managed by the residents' garden committee.
