TANGISTAN

ALTERNATIVE NAME:  BRONZE PROP, 124358

Remains of 1915 wreck of English cargo vessel, located approximately 8 miles or 6.5 nautical miles east of Scarborough. The TANGISTAN foundered after being torpedoed en route from Beni Saf for Middlesbrough with iron ore. Two other sites were formerly also suggested as the possible remains of the TANGISTAN, at 909142 (now amended to dead) and 908463 (which remains at present unidentified). The present site lies some distance NW of the RUNSWICK [1354351], but was originally reported in a position close SE of the RUNSWICK.
