CHISBURY CAMP

Earthwork remains of an Iron Age hillfort with evidence for Roman occupation. Swords, a spearhead and pottery of uncertain date were found in 1900. Small-scale excavation in 1988 encountered only post-medieval material. Scheduled. The earthwork remains of the ramparts of the western half of the hillfort were mapped from lidar imagery as part of the Savernake Forest NMP project.
