POLTESCO MILL

DESCRIPTION + /

Water mill of mostly 18th (datestone of 1786) and 19th century date with some earlier work, possibly dating from the 14th century. Built of stone rubble with horizontal timber boarding and a slurried scantle slate roof. The waterwheel dates from the 1870's and there are two pairs of millstones. The mill pool survives. A small crucifixion figure, possibly medieval, is carved inside the building.
